Learning, teaching and training activities in the Czech Republic

19th – 23rd September

The Czech team prepared a week full of activities connected with hiking, nature and environment for 28 pupils and 7 teachers from Spain and Latvia. Even though we had to deal with a lot of trouble, especially bad weather, and had to change some plans, in the end we were really successful.

On Monday we started with an opening ceremony in our school canteen and our school choir singing typical Wallachian songs. We spent the morning with a tour round our school and a workshop where children learned about recycling and how to say colours of recycling boxes in Czech, Spanish and Latvian. In the afternoon we visited local Ecocentre that prepared workshops about milking a sheep, flailing corn, churning butter, spinning sheep wool or making apple juice.

On Tuesday we visited our partner company Tridas producing environment friendly packaging from molded fibre. Then we went on a trip to the caves in Teplice nad Bečvou and walked round the spa town.

Wednesday belonged to Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, where Mr. Šulgan from CHKO Beskydy (Protected landscape area) gave us a lecture about local nature and accompanied us to the ruin of the castle Hradisko. In the evening children had the chance to spend time only with their friends and families.

Thursday was our main hiking day. We used the cable car to take us to Pustevny, walked to the top of Radhošť and later we visited the Skywalk view tower.

On Friday we had to process all our expereinces into presentations, posters, project journals and videos that were showed and displayed at our afternoon farewell party in the hall of the local library. The whole ceremony was accompanied by the band called Chasing Eagles with our former colleague Marco Campos, who made us sing and dance for a couple of hours.

Huge thanks go to my colleagues Karel, Lukáš and Veronika for the hard work, devoted time and support.

We consider this mobility very successful and we are looking forward to the last mobility, in spring 2023 in Latvia.

On behalf of the whole team, Hana Břoušková.
